Research Project
The research project of the Rural Development Section of the Agricultural Research Institute aims to improve the agricultural sector as well as the rural economy of Cyprus. The research activity of the section focuses on the information and communication technologies in agriculture and the economic efficiency of the production and trade of agricultural products. At present the ongoing research concerns the use and utilization of new information technologies by the farmers. In the near future the research will cover vital areas pertaining to rural development, such as agribusiness management, sustainability of agricultural production systems, agricultural planning, the producers' association role, agricultural management/marketing, contractual agriculture and the exploitation of satellite remote sensing technology.
